Land Acknowledgement for our District Website.

We acknowledge that our RTOERO District 28 Durham Region community is located on/in the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties.

Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work, live and play on this land.

Join US In Supporting the Brilliant Young Minds of Tomorrow.

Hello Members,

RTOERO District 28 (formerly Retired Teachers of Ontario) has generously supported Ontario Tech students over the past eight years. Together, we are helping students become the next generation of problem solvers, leaders and community builders.

We need your help to make a permanent student award endowment a reality. Members will receive a tax receipt and when we reach our goal, our donations will be matched by the university. This fund will support students in perpetuity who are enrolled in programs with direct connections to improving the lives of seniors and education with a preference for those from our district.

We are pleased to be taking this next step in our partnership with Ontario Tech University to establish the RTOERO District 28 Endowment Fund. A gift to the fund will create a lasting legacy for students reinforcing how, as educators, we are still there for them. Your generosity will play a crucial role in breaking down barriers to success, helping students graduate and opening doors to unlimited potential as they pursue their dreams.

“It is important for students to know there are people out there who are dedicated to supporting the minds of tomorrow and trying to make the world a better place. It was highly motivating to continue my studies knowing that I was supported by my community. I will be forever thankful for your kindness and generosity.” Shilique Clement-Sharpe, Award recipient, class of 2019.

To make a gift to the fund, please visit our RTOERO District 28 Endowment page or mail your cheque payable to "Ontario Tech University" to: Ontario Tech University – Advancement Office c/o Jodi Cowan, 2000 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa, ON L1G 0C5. *Please indicate on your cheque that you would like your gift to be directed to the RTOERO Endowment Fund.

We are deeply grateful for your support and thank you for your investment in students.
